O’Carroll named as best newcomer in 2023 

Road racer Anthony O’Carroll has been named the best newcomer in the 2023 Dukes Road Racing Rankings. 

The independent ranking is run by Isle of Man-based media company Duke’s Videos and takes into consideration every rider’s result and performance across all events during any given season. 

Ballyduff’s O’Carroll won races at Armoy this season and finished in the top 15 in the 600cc class of the Manx Grand Prix. 

The rankings are treated as gospel in the road racing world and act as an unofficial world seeding of all road racers. 

When O’Carroll’s results were added up at the end of the season, he ranked 23rd overall and the top newcomer for 2023. 

“I am pleased to say that Anthony has won the 2023 Newcomers award, being the top points scorers of riders in their first or second season of racing on the roads,” said results coordinator Phil Edge. 

O’Carroll added: “The 23rd-best road racer in the world is pretty cool.”
