From Donegal to Dingle by horseback – rally driver Shane Barry’s  mission for his late baby daughter

Rally driver Shane Barry will arrive in Kerry today after travelling from Donegal on horseback

Shane and a friend of his are attempting to ride from Donegal to Dingle to raise funds for two very worthy charities – Ronald MacDonald House and Cian’s Kennels – that helped the family last year and earlier this year.

Shane’s daughter Aria Rose Wilkie-Barry was born with a rare syndrome that created health complications.

Aria Rose died on February 17 this year having spent most of her 16 months in hospital battling bravely.

The family were well looked after by both Ronald MacDonald House and Cian’s Kennels and now the two horse riders want to give back.

Their plan is to arrive in Dingle on Friday morning in time for Dingle Races.

Last night they stayed in Milltown Malbay in County Clare and are expected to cross the ferry into Tarbert sometime around 4pm today, Tuesday.

They will overnight in Moyvane on Tuesday night, and will visit Killorglin on Wednesday before staying in Annascaul on Thursday and making their way to Dingle on Friday morning.

Shane is best known for rallying in the northwest of the country in various forms of Honda Civics and  Toyota Corollas but he did compete on the 2016 Kerry Winter Rally too.
