Busy weekend for Kerry rally crews at either end of the country
It is going to be a busy weekend for Kerry rally competitors with two events on at both ends of the country.
First up is the Carryduff Forklifts Down Rally on Saturday.
Dublin-based Currow man John McCarthy is on pacenote duty for John Devlin in their Ford Escort.
Co-driver turned driver Damien Fleming makes his debut behind the wheel of a newly acquired Nissan Micra. He will be co-driven by Denis O’Leary.
It is a double weekend for the Killarney and District Motor Club crew as they are also entered in the Imokilly Rally on Sunday.
Leading the Kerry contingent in East Cork is Rob Duggan. He is co-driven by Mikie Galvin and they are number the number two seeds.
At three sits Conor Morphy and Sean Collins.
Meabh Griffin, fresh from her chief marshal duties on last weekend’s Ballyfinnane Hillclimb co-drives for David Condell at ten.
Ed Synan, third on the hillclimb last weekend, has Denis O’Connell in the passenger seat.
Denis Hickey and Eoin O’Leary start at 28.
Kerry Motor Club’s Mikie Cleary starts his first rally of the year and is alongside Neil Tohill in a Mitsubishi Lance E10.
A host of KDMC cars start from 47 to 57.
They are Robert Counihan/Timmy Kelly in Toyota Corolla Twin Cam, at 49 John Hickey/Michelle Hickey in the famous Fubaru Escort RS, at 50 Brian Hickey/Noel Murphy and 57 Bob Moran/Eoin Collins in a pair of Escorts.
Kerry women are out in force too. Ciara Griffin co-drives for Wayne Keogh in a Skoda S2000.
Katie Quinn and debutant co-driver Caz Sommers are at 93 in their Honda Civic. And Amy Burke is at 122 with Emel McNamara on the notes.
KMC’s Ian Horgan drivers his usual Toyota Corolla Twin Cam while John Corrigan, also representing KMC has Niall Mulcahy home for the Netherlands will drive an Opel Corsa.
Declan Casey is on pace note duty for Hugh Sheehan and Maruce Kennelly and Eoin Mulvihill start at
Debutants Timmy Finnegan and Michael Browne compete in a Honda Civic.
