Opel Corsa Rally  4 to make its Irish debut in the Rally of the Lakes this weekend

Carlow-based driver John O’Rourke the all new  Opel Corsa Rally  4 its Irish rally debut in this weekend’s Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes.

O’Rourke and his Cork co-driver Nigel Walker are seeded at 108 and will run in the very competitive RC4 class.

“It is the first one in Ireland and UK,” he said.

“We will give the car its Irish debut this weekend at the International Rally Of The Lakes in Killarney. A big Thanks to David, Mark and Paul at Cullen Motorsport for all their hard work and our sponsors Ferrybank Motors , Main Opel and Citroen Dealer for Co. Wexford and Auto Rentals Van and Car Hire, without all their help Rallying would not happen for me. See you in Killarney.”

Interestingly, while O’Rourke is the first driver to driver such a car in Ireland he is not the first to driver one.,

That honour goes to Niall O’Sullivan.

He contested the South Belgium Rally in March. He is competing in the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux in Belgium and Luxemburg this season.

When his Peugeot 208 Rally4 was ready in time for the  opening round he was given the use of a  Opel Corsa Rally  4 instead.
