Moriarty Central Car Sales Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship latest

THESE POINTS REMAIN PROVISIONAL UNTIL THE DAY THE RALLY OF THE LAKES PROGRAMME GOES TO THE PRINTER. – ALL QUERIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY TUESDAY THIS WEEK – NO EXCEPTIONS

After round two of the Moriarty Central Car Sales Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship, the recent Rose Hotel Circuit of Kerry Rally, the leaderboard is wide open.
The only county championship in the county is open to members of Kerry Motor Club and Killarney and District Motor Club.
The current points table remains provisional until membership is checked.
You will need to be a member of either club before the Circuit of Kerry to have these points confirmed – this will be checked in due course and points will be removed in membership is not up to date.
Leading the drivers’ side of the championship is Mark Murphy, after a strong run on the Circuit. The Toyota Starlet driver led his class from start to finish in Tralee.
In second place is defending champion Darren Young, he won class 11F, always a well-subscribed class and despite clutch troubles, he made it to the end of the nine-stage rally based in his hometown.
Dave Slattery is next up,
second in class 13 was his reward for a good day’s rallying in Tralee in early April.
It is the first time that the Killarney and District Motor Club man has featured on the podium.
One of the reasons the championship was formed was to encourage more Kerry competitors to enter more local events.
That theory is certainly working on the co-driver’s side of the house. The top two have competed in both the Killarney Forestry Rally and the Circuit of Kerry.
Shane Buckley leads the fray with Denny Greaney just five points behind and Damien Fleming in third.
Joint fourth goes to Sean Walsh, Noel O’Sullivan and Denis Coffey – the Rally of the Lakes will certainly be interesting from a co-driver’s point of view.
Despite an unfortunate non-finish in Tralee, Alan Ring leads the historic class with co-driver Tony McCarthy leading the navigators’ section.
Jamie O’Rourke leads the provisional Junior championship and the championship decision will be made after the Rally of the Lakes because the Junior section of the championship will be completed by then. It won’t be possible to score Junior class points in the Killarney Historic Rally.
