Megan Costello is ladies’ rally champion for 2022
Megan Costello is the Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championsip Ladies’ champion for 2022.
The Tarbert-based navigator earned the title alongside three different drivers including her brother and father.
She started her season on the Rally of the Lakes in May alongside Ray Hilliard in Ford Escort Mk1.
In October she co-drove for her father Jason – a poignant moment for the North Kerry-based rally family – it was the first time they both shared a rally car since they were seriously injured in a crash in the 2018 Circuit of Munster.
They finished third in their class on what was Jason’s first time competing in a rally since the crash. The third-place finish allowed Megan to gather points for the class-based Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship.
In December, Jason loaned his Ford Escort to his son Mossie for the Rentokil-Initial Killarney Historic Rally.
Mossie campaigned a Honda Civic and a Peugeot 107 on junior rallies earlier in the year, but this was his first time driving an Escort at a rally event.
The brother and sister crew finished fifth in class and Megan gathered even more points to put towards her final championship tally.
The championship awards night takes place in Anvil Bar, Keel on December 30.
