Breen uses Cork Forestry Rally as shakedown for Acropolis Rally*
The Cork Forestry Rally was notable for a late and unexpected entry from Craig Breen.
Breen was using the event as a shakedown for Acropolis Rally… we jest… but Sunday’s conditions were very close to what can be expected in Greece next month.
The World Rally Championship star drove his father Ray’s Ford Focus World Rally Car to a 22-second victory over Irish Forestry Championship frontrunner Patrick O’Brien.

He employed friend and neighbour John Boden to call the notes in what was John’s first ever rally.
Breen and his regular co-driver Paul Nagle resume their World Rally Championship campaign in Belgium this weekend
The next round is the EKO Acropolis Rally Greece next month.

The WRC press office describes the Greek rally as: “Twisty rocky mountain roads combine with high temperatures and choking dust to provide a fierce challenge. The tracks are smoother than they used to be but still pose punishing demands on tyres and cars.”
Anyone who contested Sunday’s rally in the Boggerragh Mountains will confirm the that above description could be applied to Cork Motor Club’s event too!
