Kerry co-drivers record top ten finishes in New Zealand and Australia
There were two Kerry men in action Down Under last weekend.
Noel Moloney continued his New Zealand Rally Championship campaign while Murish O’Connell returned to Australian action for the first time this year.

Moloney was contesting the Hawkes Bay Rally the last NZRC event before September’s WRC Rally where the Duagh man will make his World Championship debut
He and his driver Dave Seivers finished eighth overall and won the Category Five section of the rally to consolidate their lead in the class in New Zealand Rally Championship.

“The stages were good but wet and slippery we drove just a consistent rally this time,” said Moloney.
Meanwhile in Westen Australia O’Connell had a similar experience.
Co-driving for Abe Tuckey they finished sixth on the Grimwade Rally in similarly wet conditions.
“Heavy rain made it super slippery out there. There were quite a few cars off early on, so it was tough to read how much you could push ,” he said “
“Happy with our pace, especially in the first loop.
“The road was fairly churned up by the time we started the second loop, in darkness, so we just had to make sure we brought it home.
“The car is awesome, it didn’t skip a beat, and Abe’s a very skilled pilot, so we’d a good weekend.

“It’s a few years since Abe last competed in a four-wheel drive car on gravel, so we’re working on developing the pacenotes and enjoying it and getting faster.”
