Recce cars must be fully cleaned before leaving Kenya

M Sport mechanics and using their limited down time on the Safari Rally to rebuild recce cars ahead of next  September’s Rally New Zealand.

The recce cars will leave the Kenyan port of Mombassa for Auckland next week.

Strick custom rule mean cars have to fully cleaned before being place in the shipping container.

There are risks that insects accidently imported from Kenya could cause an environmental disaster in New Zealand.

A similar concern centres on the potential seeds arriving in New Zealand, trapped amongst dust and dirt from the Kenyan dirt roads.

That means every component must be power-washed and cleaned before departure
