Rally drivers wanted for ZERO LIMITS charity track day

The Vision Sports Ireland ZERO LIMITS Track Day returns to the Mondello Park circuit on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th of July, bigger than ever before.

Vision Sports Ireland, in partnership with Motorsport Ireland, has announced the return of the Zero Limits Track Day, supported by Sport Ireland.

The  2021 event proved to be a huge success in which 35 blind and vision-impaired participants had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of dual-controlled Mini Coopers and became rally co-drivers alongside some of Ireland’s finest rally drivers.

Now returning for its second year in 2022, the event will be spread over two days enabling double the number of participants taking to the circuit.

Padraig Healy, National Sports Development Manager of Vision Sports Ireland commented “We were blown away with the response from participants following the inaugural Zero Limits event in 2021. For someone who has never driven a car or not driven since their vision changed, it is a unique experience that we are truly delighted to be able to offer to our members. We hope to show that nothing is impossible in life; the true mantra of Vision Sports. With support from Sport Ireland, in 2022 we will run the event across two days to offer this thrilling experience to double the participants. We are all very excited to welcome back participants and their families and friends, alongside event partners Motorsport Ireland and our volunteer rally drivers who shared their incredible sport in 2021 by providing co-driver hot laps around the Mondello Park Circuit, on July 11 and 12.”

Vision Sport Ireland will manage the list of participants but Sara McFadden, Ireland’s only Visually Impaired co-driver is calling on rally drivers to supply their cars one or both days of the event.

Drivers will be required to give passenger rides to visually impaired co-drivers.

All they have to do is turn up on the day in a safely prepared rally car, with enough fuel to do several laps of Mondello Park. Food and refreshments will be supplied by Vision Sports on both days.

If you are available drop a line to on sara.visionsports@ncbi.ie and she will be happy to answer all questions relating to the event.

She said: ” “It is an honour to be involved for the second year in organising the Zero Limits Track Day. From the success of last year’s event, it is phenomenal that this year, with the support of our key stakeholders and sponsors, we are able to run the event over two days, more than doubling participation from last year’s event. On a personal level, it is very special to be able to offer other people who are blind or visually impaired a firsthand experience of the sport which I am so privileged to compete in and has given me so much.”
