Successful debut weekend for Headford motorcycle racer
Killarney’s newest motorcycle racer Stephen Heelan made his race debut at Mondello Park over the weekend.
Originally from Knocknagree, in County Cork, Stephen is currently living in Knockanes, Headord.
Heelan will contest the Supersport Cup class within the Dunlop Masters Irish Superbike Championship on his Kawasaki ZX6R.
Prior to last weekend he only ever took part in non-competitive track days.

“I have been doing rack days here and in Australia but only got the chance to go racing this year,” he said.
Over three races at the County Kildare track last weekend he finished in sixth, seventh and eighth place and ahead of some experienced racers.
“I had a great weekend competing in my first ever race and I am delighted with the results,” he added.
Heelan is the only Killarney-based racer committed to the Irish championship this season. Kevin Coyne has taken a year out to concentrate on his college studies, Frank Doherty has sold his race bike to fund other interests and sidecar racer Siobhan Ardener is struggling to race sponsorship to fund her season.
