Rathmore teacher Declan Casey and his driver Michael McDaid missed on a class podium by just three seconds on Saturday’s RallyNuts Stages.
The rally was the second round of the Welsh Historic Rally Championship.
“We started off on our first forestry event since last year and settled in quickly and we were lying fifth in class after the first loop – 21s off the lead of the class,” said Declan.
“The second loop saw us put in more competitive times to finish fourth in class – missing out on a podium by three seconds in the end. We delighted with the new engine and pace over the second loop and looking forward to the next Welsh round the Plains Rally on May 21.”
McDaid will not contest the Rally of Lakes but Casey will sit with Todd Falvey for the local international rally.
