Engine trouble ends co-driver Declan Casey’s planned run on Rally of North Wales this weekend

Rathmore’s Declan Casey and his driver Michael McDaid have had to withdraw from this weekend’s Rally of North Wales – the opening round of the Welsh Historic Rally Championship.

On the recent West Cork Rally the had to rely on SuperRally rules to get to the finish, mechanical problems on the opening Ring stage on Sunday morning ended a fine drive.

They were second overnight but eventually finished 16th. On McDaid’s return to Fermanagh he discovered the engine may have suffered damage in West Cork and it has been returned to Sherwood Race Engines to be checked over. It won’t be back in time for Saturday event – or indeed Friday planned departure date.
