The legendary West Cork rally is only a few days away now.
As ever, rallies can’t run without marshals.
The event’s chief marshal is the legendary Bones O’Connor (the first ever Irish rally driver to finish Rally Finland circa 1983).

Bones, who resides in Caherdaniel in South Kerry has a message for potential volunteers – give him a hand out if you can – he would be one of the first to put on a yellow jacket for a Kerry-based event.
“I am Chief Marshal again and hope that you may be able to help me.
“Marshals travelling from long distance for the two days will get a bed in self-catering accommodation, a goodie pack with Programme, a Bottle of water, a bar, sandwich, dinner in Rally HQ and my undying gratitude !
“If you can help, please let me know asap, and give me phone number and e mail. We have less accommodation available this year, so book now!
“17th and 18th March are public holidays this year-if you wish to have a right good holiday in Clonakilty, you can make your own arrangements with your accommodation provider.
“That is the (in)famous photo of me running the 1982 rally from a toilet seat- needs must !

Hope to see you in Clonakilty.”
