A four-door Ford Escort Mk2 is set to contest Sunday’s Irish Community Air Ambulance Rally.
This is believed to be the first time such a car entered a Kerry rally…but we stand to be corrected on that one.

The car will be driven by Newry’s John Gordon and his West Kerry Gaeltacht co-driver Elaine Ni She.
John is marking his tenth year in the sport and prefers loose surface events to tarmac rallies.

In his 60 starts since 2013, he has claimed 18 class wins so far – mainly in the 2.0 Litre 16V class.
He has upgraded to a 2.4 unit and the Castleisland-based rally will only be his third event with the higher-powered engine.
They will start as car 206 on Sunday.
