
Top Part West Coast Rally Championship 2022
Details of the 2022 Top Part West Coast Rally Championship have been confirmed by series organisers.
The ever-popular clubman championship will again be sponsored by The Top Part Group, which makes it the longest standing sponsorship of a championship in Irish rallying history and also Ireland’s number one Regional Rally Championship.
The Top Part Group under MD Donie Dillane have been sponsoring the championship since it was formed back 1993. The group now have 20 stores nationwide and calendar reflects hosts towns close to branches.
The 2022 Championship will consist of five rounds in total with the best three to count .
Round 1. The Mayo Stages is based in Claremorris and will be the opening round on March 6. This will be the first time that Mayo will be part of the Top Part West Coast Championship.
Round 2 The Birr Stages Rally which was traditionally the opening round moves back to Birr and will take place on April 3 with Eoin Longworth as Clerk of the Course.
Round 3 will take place on its traditional June bank holiday weekend in Limerick on June 5.
Round 4 The championship moves to Galway on August 28 for the penultimate round.
Round 5 Kerry, home of the Top Part Group, will host the final round on October 30 Bank Holiday Weekend .
Competitors must start three events to qualify and may count their best three scores plus all starters points.
One starter point will be awarded for each event started plus an extra starters point (2 in total) will be awarded to crews on the first and last rounds of the championship.
A Registration Fee of 20 euro per car will apply for this year’s Championship.
The “Drive of the Day Award” is again sponsored by “The Top Part Group” and will be presented at the finish podium of each event.
At the end of year an annual awards evening will take place.
Awards will be presented to the Top three overall Crews, Overall Group N, Overall Ladies Cup, Overall Two-Wheel Drive, Overall Juniors and Historic and the Drive of the Championship as well as first, second. and third in each class.
The Pat Dowling Memorial Shield will be presented to the winning navigator in Class 12.
Registration can take place at the first event that a competitor starts.
All Classes will be per the 2022 MI Yearbook. Regs and other details will be available very soon.
Women in Motorsport Ireland and the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship will continue their partnership for the 2022 season.
On each of the five events, three categories will be recognised and presented with awards at the finish ramp to the following ladies.
1 Highest placed Lady Club member on each event.
2 Highest placed Junior Lady or crew on each event.
3 Highest Placed Overall Lady or crew on each event.
Just as newspapers and magazines are paid for, digital editorial content will also have to be paid for.
