McDaid/Casey third overall in Welsh Historic championship
Rathmore school teacher Declan Casey is celebrating finishing third overall on the Pirelli Welsh Historic Rally Championship.
He and his driver Michael McDaid finished third on last weekend Rally Nuts Stages in Mid Wales.
The Rallynuts Rally returned to the British rallying calendar for the first time since 2019 on Saturday last
Forced to take a two-year sabbatical due to the pandemic, the Builth Wells based event has seen a one-off move from its traditional April slot.
The swap has meant that the well-respected event was the final round of the season for several championships including the Pirelli Welsh Historic Rally Championship.

The Monaghan/Cork crew were also second in the BDG class on Saturday.
“It was our first attempt at the Welsh,” said Casey who has vowed to return next year and take the title after a learning year this season.
“Next on the cards for us is a trip to Killarney to finish off the year with a bit of tarmac.”
