Two new Kerry Ford Escorts will make their debuts on Sunday’s Banna Beach Resort Kerry Winter Rally.
Both Rob Duggan and Fergus Omeara are out in two brand new cars
Duggan will debut his newly built Class 14 Ford Escort on Sunday’s Kerry Winter Rally.
The car was built by the former British Junior Champion during various lockdowns and the shakedown stage on Saturday will be the first chance he will get to drive the car at full rally speed.
It will be the first time he will compete in his own Escort – all of his previous successes, including winning the 2019 Rentokil-Initial Killarney Historic Rally, were in hired cars.
He did take the car for a short run in on Sunday last but the car was fitted with older tyres and it was the same day a big storm hit County Kerry.
“We are happy enough so far,” he told Kerry Motorsport News.
“We got it tracked and some bit of set up on it. Saturday’s shakedown will be first proper drive in the car – we need to get a set of good tyres under her, I am looking forward to giving it a good debut in Banna.”
Rob’s main focus is the modified category of the Historic Rally next month.
He will be co-driven by Ger Conway on both events
Fergus O’Meara will run his newly built Ford Escort Mk2 for the first time too. The historic-spec car, built by Den Motorsport, sports a BDG engine. It’s Fergus’s first time out in four years.
