BROKEN ALTENATOR BRACKET SCUPPERS CRONIN’S TRACKROD RALLY YORKSHIRE BID

PENALTIES SCUPPER CRONIN’S TRACKROD RALLY YORKSHIRE

A broken alternator bracket and resultant lateness penalties ended Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin’s hopes of a successful result on the 2021 Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, round four of the British Rally Championship.  Their total stage times would have put them fourth overall in the Hankook Tire Ford Fiesta, but the two minutes of penalties applied dropped them to tenth in the final standings.

With the crew having used up their maximum permitted lateness when attending to an engine misfire (traced to a loose plug connection) prior to the opening stage on Friday evening, they later incurred the penalties as they were delayed leaving Service on Saturday afternoon, while the alternator bracket was replaced.

The event was won by Matt Edwards and Darren Garrod in a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.

While the BRC resumes in two weeks time at the Mull Rally, the next round on Cronin’s itinerary is the Cambrian Rally in Wales on the 30th of October.

Keith Cronin is supported by Hankook Tire, M. O’Brien Group of Companies, Rentokil Initial, Cremin Coaches, Cronin’s Centra, Cronin’s Homevalue and M-Sport.
