Abbeyfeale motocross racer Gavin Moloney heads into this weekend’s final round of the Southern Masters Moto-X Championship with a slender two point lead.
Moloney, who rides a Honda CRF 250R, has been the long time leader of the series but has hit trouble in the two most recent rounds.
Tow weeks ago, at the penultimate event at Vernon Mount in Cork, he struggled with bad starts.
“I had to to come through pack, with 50 riders in our races this year. I got 12th and 14th in my first two races,2 he said.
However, he finished well and took second place in the third and final race of the day.
That was enough to give him fourth place overall on the combined results.
“I only have two-point lead in championship going into this weekend. Hopefully bit better luck this weekend,” added Moloney.
