Abbeyfeale motocross racer Gavin Moloney is still leading the Southern Masters Championship despite a challenging event in Offaly over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Moloney, who rides a Honda CRF 250R, arrived in Doon, County Offaly as championship leader following a string of top results over the opening two rounds.
His weekend did not go according to plan and he was caught up in series of incidents that cost his results and valuable championship points.
In his first race he got mixed up in a crash, and dropped to 50th (and last) but recovered to take 20th overall.
His second race was much better the taking the number two position but Moloney was back in the wars for race three.
“I got a got decent start but had tip over managed 12th in that race,” he said.
He finished 11th overall on the combined results.
“As far as I know should be still leading championship with two more weekends to go,” he added.
These events are Vernon Mount in Cork on August 22 and Gormanstown in Dublin on September 5.
