Cronin and Galvin return to British Rally Championship this weekend

Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin will make their much-speculated return to the British Rally Championship on Saturday’s Nicky Grist Rally in Wales.

Cronin, a four-time British Rally Champion and his Killarney co-driver, Galvin, will drive a Ford Fiesta Rally 2 on all remaining five rounds with support from Hankook Tyres.

Galvin is chasing a second British title having previously won it alongside Cronin in 2017. The crew also won the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in 2016.

They prepared for this weekend’s BRC round by contesting the Ford only M-Sport Rally in Cumbria over the weekend.

It was their first rally since the 2018 Ypres Rally in 2018 and they gave a good account of themselves, by finishing third overall.

“I haven’t competed in a [BRC] rally since 2018, so my expectations must stay realistic, the main priority of the programme is to develop a new generation of Hankook’s gravel tyres. That said, I’m really looking forward to getting back out and I’m very grateful to Hankook and our other supporters for this opportunity,” said Cronin.

They will join fellow Killarney and District Motor Club member Noel O’Sullivan on the British Championship trail this season.

O’Sullivan is competing on the series alongside Welsh Driver Osian Pryce and they finished third on the season opener at Oulton Park in late May in their Volkswagen Polo.
