New Zealand Rallying
Noel Moloney guided his driver Quentin Palmer to a Category 5 win and sixth overall on last weekend’s International Rally of Whangarei, the second round of the New Zealand Rally Championship.
It was the Duagh natives best ever result in either Irish on New Zealander rallying.
The crew are contesting the newcomers’ category in the series in a Mitsubishi Lancer E5. They got their title aspirations back on track after an engine failure on the opening round, the Otago Rally, last month.
Palmer was full of praise for his Duagh co-driver and support team following their efforts in getting the car read and the team’s performance last weekend.
“We had an awesome day yesterday. We finished and got the win for Category 5 and finished the day sixth overall. Thanks Noel, it’s always a pleasure having him in the seat,” he said. “Thanks to the team for the massive work put in and getting the car going and prepped for Whangārei. It did not miss a beat. Big thanks to Ian McKay for spending all his spare time rebuilding the engine -awesome work.”
