Nagle forced to miss Italian event due to quarantine regulations
Paul Nagle will miss this weekend’s Targa Florio Rally because Italy remains on the Irish mandatory quarantine list.
Nagle and his driver Craig Breen were due to contest the Sicily-based rally as part of an extended programme of selected events outside of the World Rally Championship for the Hyundai Motorsport Team.
All arrivals, into Ireland, from Italy must go into a two week compulsory isolation as per Irish COVID-19 rules.
Despite being considered an elite athlete for World Rally Championship events, this status does not extend the Italian national event.
“We have to abide by government guidelines and Italy is a red list country,” said Nagle.

Breen is a fulltime resident of Andorra so was able to avoid the quarantine situation as different rules apply for different countries.
The Waterford man has employed I Belgian co-driver Louis Loukafor this weekend’s event. Loukafor is a member of the Hyundai Motorsport World Rally Team’s background staff and would be familiar with the Irish team’s pacenote system.
