Noel Moloney is preparing for the first round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship which gets underway on Saturday morning with Rally Otago.
The Duagh native is co-driving for Quentin Palmer in what is their first attempt at the national rally championship. The Irish/New Zealand crew are contesting the newcomers section of the five-round championship that runs from this weekend until mid-September.
“Really looking forward to be co-driving alongside Quentin our first Otago rally together. It should be a great event with a maximum entry with some great stages to look forward to,” said Moloney. “It’s a privilege to do our first championship round together so bring on the weekend. We are very grateful for the support back at home and in New Zealand.”
The Mitsubishi Lancer crew are frontrunners in gravel events in the North Island but this weekend’s three-day rally takes place on the South Island and over 1400km from Moloney’s Auckland base.
Moloney was due flew down there Wednesday but his team left Auckland in the early hours of Sunday morning. This is his fourth start in the Dunedin-based rally.
