Lorcan Hanafin has vowed to challenge for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title after agreeing to a second season in the competitive series.
Hanafin, from Guiseley near Leeds, can trace his roots to the Ballinorig area in Tralee. His father Dermot grew up there before moving to Leeds some 30 years ago but the family still have strong ties to the area.
The 18-year-old will return to drive a Porsche 911 GT3 for the Bedfordshire-based Joe Tandy Racing team.

Last year he contested 16 races for the squad, and finished on the podium four times, on his way to fourth overall in the championship standings.
Now, with one full season under his belt he hopes to challenge for race wins and championship honours.

”I can’t wait to get back racing. It seems like a lifetime since last season finished, so I’m really eager to get working again with the top people at Joe Tandy Racing and build on what we learned last year. I plan to be fighting for the driver’s championship for 2021,” he said.
The team has already undertaken extensive test sessions at Brands Hatch and Silverstone ahead of the delayed season start at Snetterton on June 12.
Hanafin is sponsored by MIS Motorsport, DMR Jewellery and Watches, Porsche Centre Leeds and Revive Leeds.
