New Zealand Rallying
Noel Moloney marked his first event of the 2021 New Zealand rally season by taking fourth in Sunday’s James Allen Memorial Rallysprint.
The Duagh native entered the South Auckland Car Club organised event alongside his regular driver Quentin Palmer.
The Mitsubishi Lancer E4 crew used Sunday’s the event as a high-speed pre-season shakedown ahead of a planned assault on the New Zealand Rally Championship which gets underway with the DriveSouth Rally of Otago on April 16 to 18.

Sunday’s event was based in the Maramarua Forest area and featured two gravel loops of approximately 8km each.
The Irish/New Zealand crew will contest the Category 5 section of the New Zealand Rally Championship.
“Category 5 is not the main category, it is an entrance category for the older cars and a good start of category to for new entrants to the championship,” explained Noel.

The other four rounds of the New Zealand National Rally Championship are the International Rally of Whangarie on May 14-16, the South Canterbury Rally on June 19, Rally Hawkes Bay on July 24 and Rally Coromandel on September 4.
