Kevin Coyne has come up with an unusual method to launch his 2021 season.
Farranfore-based motorcycle racer has confirmed that he will step up to the National Superstock 600 class in the British Superbike Championship after spending this year contesting the British Junior Supersport Championship on his Kawasaki.
A new bike arrived at his Killarney workshop this week and the build is nearing completion.
The 18-year-old intended to unveil the new motorcycle on Saturday last but that idea got pushed back after body panels and other key parts did not arrive on time due to COVID-19 related production issues.
Instead of the launch, he is inviting fans to visit his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Kevin-coyne-racing-64-2286917211576517/ where they can guess the type of motorcycle he will race next year by correctly identifying parts of the bike’s racing exhaust system.
All correct entries will be entered into a draw for a full VIP spectator package to a British Superbike Championship meeting next season.
The new, fully built, motorcycle will be unveiled before Christmas.
“Unfortunately, it does not look much of a bike right now as some parts just did not arrive,“ he said. “We have come up with this idea instead. It is a pretty cool prize.”
Sponsorship packages for the 2021 season are now available by contacting his father, Mark, on 087 272 6287.
