Motoring events in the county cancelled today due to Storm Denis
The arrival of Strom Denis has in the county has forced the cancelation of tow motoring events set to take place later today.
Both the Hot Rod races at Kilflynn and Cars and Coffee in Killarney will not go ahead due to the bad weather.
It was the second time in as many weeks that the return of Hot Rod racing to the popular Kilflynn track was hit by the weather after last weekend’s Storm Ciara forced organisers to postpone the event until this weekend but that was not to be either.
A statement issued by East Cork Hot Rod club, organiser of the North Kerry event said:
“Due to new weather Alerts issued for this weekend ahead of the arrival of Storm Denis, we regret that we must cancel racing for on Sunday. While every attempt has been explored to avoid another postponement, we feel in the interest of Health and Safety, it is the correct decision.
East Cork Hot Rod Club will meet next week to arrange an alternative weekend for racing, and we hope that this unusually bad weather period will pass and we can get back to racing.”
The organisers of the Killarney event met with the same fate. Cars and Coffee at KC Print was due to be the first monthly event of 2020 but with a weather warning in place they elected to call it off for safety reasons.
