Flat to the Square Right! Hyundai Motorsport to pay tribute to Craig Breen with a special livery at Croatia Rally
Hyundai Motorsport will run a special livery to honour late the rally driver Craig Breen at Croatia Rally (April 9-12)
This design is the third to adorn a Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team car since the Irishman’s passing during a pre-event test for the 2023 rally
All three Hyundai i20 N Rally1 cars will adopt the one-off design across the weekend as the team continues to honour his legacy.
Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team will run a special livery at Croatia Rally (April 9-12) to pay tribute to the late Irish and Hyundai Motorsport rally driver Craig Breen, who passed away in a pre-event test for the same event in 2023.
Designed by Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre design team – in cooperation with Hyundai Motorsport – in a series of one-off liveries running throughout the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) season, the artwork features portraits of Breen across the sides and roof of the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 car.
It is accompanied by a larger version of the longstanding ‘For Craig’ decal and tribute line featuring his iconic ‘flat to the square right’.
The livery also includes a tribute to the Craig Breen Foundation, a charity established in 2023 designed to nurture the next generation of Irish rallying talent.
The foundation offers multi-year support for the Irish J1000 Forestry Series, including a prize fund and elite coaching.
Breen continues to be remembered on all liveries throughout the season with a ‘ForCraig’ emblem on the rear of all three cars entered in every round, as well as the ‘Breenie’ hats worn by team members at the colder rounds.
Hyundai Motorsport is committed to helping his legacy live on both on and off the stages.
Hyundai Motorsport President and Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “The sentiment is still the same within the team: we want to continue to remember Craig Breen not only for the driver he was on the stages, but also the man he was off them. Craig was the epitome of what rallying is in every element of his life; from his camaraderie on event, to his passion for nurturing the next generation of talent in his native Ireland, everyone can pinpoint something about him that impacted them positively.
We are honoured to have been a small part of his life, and I can speak for the whole team when I say that we will do all we can to help his memory live on.”
Hyundai Motorsport WRC Sporting Director Andrew Wheatley said: “It’s evident that everyone in the Service Park has been touched by the generosity, sincerity and good humour of Craig, and that we all miss his presence.
These special liveries are just a small way the team can pay tribute to him, especially here at Croatia Rally. I have been around the WRC for a long time, so it’s not lost on me the effects Craig’s passing has had, and through our own initiatives and those of the Craig Breen Foundation, it’s crucial that we all do what we can to remember him.”
