WEST CORK RALLY LATEST: Endurance Trials Provide Path to Rallying for Kerry Duo

Endurance Trials Provide Path to Rallying for Kerry Duo

The upcoming West Cork Rally on Sunday serves as proof that endurance trials are providing a direct pipeline into stage rallying for new talent.

Agahadoe driver Conor Horgan and Ballymac co-driver Aaron O’Halloran are set to make their stage rally debut in the Junior category. While the Junior field is typically dominated by Honda Civics, the pair are taking a different route by fielding a Citroën Saxo.

“I was looking at a few cars and nothing caught my eye. Then I saw this and wanted to try something different,” Horgan said.

Horgan credits his entry into the sport to his recent participation in endurance trials, which bridge the gap between road driving and competitive stage rallying.

“I was always into rallying but never thought it was possible. Once we tried the trials, it opened new opportunities for us and here we are,” he added.

The Junior West Cork Rally takes place this Sunday, featuring the next generation of crews tackling a selection of the main event’s stages.
