The 2026 Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally begins in less than ten days, and Cork Motor Club are delighted to have attracted a strong entry in what looks to be a very competitive event in store for rally fans.
Top seeds are Callum Devine and Niall Burns (Skoda Fabia Rally 2) with Callum the reigning NAPA Autoparts Irish Tarmac Champion.
This is the one major event in the championship he hasn’t won, although he has led in the past on a couple of occasions.
He will be firm favourite to follow up his recent Galway victory. Current National Rally Champions Eddie Doherty & Tom Murphy are at two in another Skoda and will be looking to build on a strong start to the year having been runners up in Galway.
Third seeds Josh Moffett & Andy Hayes are no strangers to Clonakilty, having won the event twice in the past, they will be Toyota Yaris mounted for this event and can’t be ruled out.
Fourth seeds Michael Boyle & Declan Boyle bring their Skoda to West Cork after two retirements this year to date but having tasted victory on several events at the end of last year, they will surely feature strongly in Clonakilty.
David Kelly & Shane Buckley are at five, with Kelly on a high after winning the Mayo stages and this momentum could make them strong contenders in West Cork.
Cathan McCourt / Barry McNulty and Declan Boyle / Patrick Walsh at six and seven respectively have a lot of experience of the West Cork stages and are both Skoda mounted. Shane Quinn & Stephen Reynolds at eight are the highest seeded Ford Fiesta Rally 2 on the event.
The top ten is rounded off by Daniel Cronin / Padraig O’Donovan (Toyota Yaris) and Matthew Boyle / Gary Byrne (Skoda Fabia).
Outside of the top ten there are entries for local drivers Cal McCarthy and David Guest, along with Mark Kelly (VW Polo) and Sam Touzel (Ford Fiesta) from the UK, and Paul Barrett (Citroen C3) and Ryan Loughran (Ford Fiesta), none of whom have competed in Clonakilty before as well as Joseph Kelly in a Toyota Yaris.
The modified entry looks very competitive, with John Dalton, Conor Murphy, Michael Carbin, Adrian Hetherington, John Bonner and Conor Shanahan just some of the drivers battling it out.
The Rally 3 class should provide a real battle with Cian Caldwell, Casey Jay Coleman, Johnnie Mulholland and Brendan Cumiskey just some of those involved.
The Historic Rally sees the fabulous Escort WRC of Jason McSweeney lead the way, with Ray Breen (Subaru Legacy, Fergus O’Meara (BMW M3) and former winner Robert Barrable (BMW M3) amongst the favourites.
The Historics will begin on Saturday morning on stage three, Ring. The action starts at 7:45pm on Friday 13th with a town stage, a 5km test that begins in the heart of Clonakilty. A trip to the classic Rossmore stage concludes the days two stages in darkness.
