While junior rally driver Katelyn Furlong hails from New Ross, County Wexford, her progress through the ranks of Irish motorsport is closely tied to the Kingdom. Furlong is a dedicated member of the Killarney and District Motor Club and is currently an active participant in its KDMC2 Youth Programme, which focuses on developing the next generation of stage rallying talent.

Her passion for the sport was sparked at a young age while supporting her fatherâs competitive efforts, eventually leading her into karting with the Wexford Motor Club Youth Academy. Having progressed from the karting tracks to the forest stages, she now competes in the high-intensity J1000 category.
Furlong made her competitive rally debut at the 2025 Carlow Forestry Rally and utilized her first full season to gather critical experience. This consistent development resulted in an impressive third-place finish in her class in the Suirway Group South East Stages Championship last year.
The 2026 season is already underway for the young driver, who competed in the opening round of the Trailer Parts & Spares Irish Forest Rally Championship at the Connacht Motor Club Yeats Ridge Forest Rally on Sunday, February 15. Looking ahead at the remainder of the year, Furlong has committed to an ambitious schedule. Her programme includes the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS), the Suirway Group South East Stages Championship, and a full campaign in the Irish Forest Rally Championship.
With the backing of the KDMC2 programme and a strong foundation from her debut year, Katelyn Furlong remains a key driver to watch as she represents Killarney’s colors on the national circuit.
