Road racing club introduces new liaison role to give members a voice at the top table

The South West Road Racing Club (SWRRC) is set to introduce a new Members Liaison Officer role to ensure “voiceless” club members have a direct line to the boardroom. Announced by newly elected President Paul McMahon, the role is designed to act as a permanent bridge between the club’s leadership and its grassroots supporters. In a shift toward greater member inclusion, McMahon confirmed that the Board will not appoint this officer; instead, the position will be filled through a democratic nomination and voting process led by the members themselves.

The Liaison Officer will have an entitlement to sit on the Board during meetings, though they will not hold a vote on specific business or financial matters. This initiative is part of a wider push to increase transparency, which also includes the commitment to hold monthly club meetings and provide regular updates on club accounts. McMahon stressed that the SWRRC belongs to its members, stating that no major decisions outside of routine official business will be made without direct consultation with the membership first.
