McErlean shows growing confidence with ninth overall in Sweden

Josh McErlean and co-driver Eoin Treacy secured a solid ninth-place finish at Rally Sweden after a measured and mature performance across the four-day event.
The Irish pairing focused on consistency early on, carefully managing the tricky snow conditions while overcoming rear tyre pressure issues on Friday. Remaining close to teammate Jon Armstrong, McErlean steadily improved his pace as the rally progressed.
Saturday proved a highlight, with the crew setting fifth fastest time on SS10 and demonstrating clear progress as confidence grew in the Ford Puma Rally1. Despite minor technical distractions later in the rally, including headlight issues, the pair maintained composure to hold position inside the top ten.
A strong final day — including an eighth-fastest Power Stage run — confirmed a positive recovery after a difficult Monte-Carlo opener.
Josh McErlean said:
“Rally Sweden done – it’s nice to get to the finish after a really difficult Monte-Carlo, one of the toughest events of my career. It’s been a weekend of ups and downs. Friday didn’t start so cleanly, but we’ve showed some good pace throughout and we’ve got some clear things to work on before Kenya. Overall, it’s been positive from a bounce-back perspective.”
