Jon Armstrong completed one of the strongest performances of his career with an impressive eighth-place finish at Rally Sweden, marking a major milestone in his first competitive outing on snow in Rally1 machinery.

The Irish driver adapted quickly to the demanding frozen stages, steadily building confidence throughout the weekend while battling closely with more experienced rivals. Armstrong showed standout pace on the long Västervik tests, beating a former world champion across both passes and finishing just 14.8 seconds shy of seventh overall.
After a difficult season opener in Monte-Carlo, reaching the finish in Sweden represented an important step forward for both Armstrong and the M-Sport Ford squad, proving their growing competitiveness on fast winter terrain.
Jon Armstrong said:
“I really enjoyed Rally Sweden – it’s good to get this finish under our belt after Monte. We’ve shown some good pace and good splits along the way, and for our first time on this surface in the Rally1 car, it’s been great for us and the team. We’re really happy with our progress and now we can see how we can improve that going forward. But overall, it’s been a good weekend and we can be really proud of what we’ve achieved as a team here.”
With confidence building, Armstrong now turns attention toward the vastly different challenge of Safari Rally Kenya next month.
