Cavan Rally driver fully focused on Yeats Ridge Forestry Rally in Sligo following successful season launch at Lough Owel Motors
Following a successful launch on Friday night, attention now turns to the Yeats Ridge Forestry Rally in Sligo for Oran England.
This new event on Sunday marks the opening round of the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series.
Events like Friday night were an important part of a professional approach before getting behind the wheel of his Peugeot 208 Rally4 this weekend.
A large crowd turned out for the event at Lough Owel Motors, with ages ranging from eight to eighty.
Local rally fans were joined by those who travelled from as far afield as Galway, Kerry, and Kilkenny. Members of the Westmeath and District Motor Club were also in attendance, benefiting from a social get-together.
Peugeot Ireland expressed delight with the local media coverage, while Lough Owel Motors reported high footfall.
The professionalism of the evening was noted by a representative from the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy. In a significant boost for the young driver, a member of the audience offered Oran additional partnership after being impressed by the presentation.
England said: “It was great to see so many people there and a lovely opportunity to engage with sponsors, huge thanks to Lough Owel Motors and Peugeot for making it happen, lovely to meet so many youngsters from the Mullingar area and their parents who knows there may be future karters and rally drivers in that group.”
Full attention now tuns to Sligo this weekend.
For the upcoming season, England will be partnered by Sligo co-driver Darragh Mullen. Mullen, who is a member of Westmeath and District Motor Club brings a high level of experience to the cockpit as the reigning British Junior co-driving Rally Champion.
The pair will compete in a Peugeot 208 Rally4 car, a machine that has become the benchmark for junior classes globally.
“While these events are important and as a young driver with a professional approach, it was important to do, but the focus switches now to the season start in Sligo. I am looking forward to the Yeats Ridge Forestry Rally on Sunday, a brand-new event and while the opposition is strong, our Peugeot 208 Rally4 is up for the job.”
