
January marks the start of awards season, with a number of Kerry competitors set to collect silverware over the coming weeks.
The first major presentation takes place this Saturday, January 10, when the GK Print Southern 4 Rally Championship prizegiving will be held at the Abbey Hotel, Ballyvourney.
Kerry Motor Club’s John Michael Kennelly secured the Overall Two-Wheel Drive title in his Ford Escort.
In Class 11F, Darren Young finished third, while his co-driver Pa Lawlor took second. Vincent O’Shea and Eoin O’Donoghue were second in Class 14, while Tralee driver John Corrigan claimed first in Class 20.
A week later, attention turns to the Top Part West Coast Rally Championship Awards Night on January 17, at the Loughrea Hotel & Spa in County Galway.
Michelle Quinn and Cas Somers will collect the Overall Top Part and Women in Motorsport awards – the Katie Quinn Tarmac Queen Trophy – having also secured the Class 2A title in their Honda Civic.
Class 14 honours go to Mike Quinn and Kieran Doherty, while Dave Slattery and Denis Coffey take second in Class 13.
