Opel previews new Astra ahead of 2026 launch at Brusells Motor Show

Opel has released further teaser images of its next-generation Astra, ahead of the model’s official world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in January.

The company will make the new Astra its core focus for 2026, a year that also marks 35 years since the long-running compact first carried the Astra name after replacing the Kadett in 1991.

The latest previews show sharper exterior styling and Opel’s updated Compass lighting signature, which features an illuminated Opel Blitz badge on the front end.

Opel says the new range will include updated colour options, a refined interior layout and new recyclable materials throughout the cabin. The 2026 line-up will again include hatchback and Sports Tourer versions, with the electric Astra gaining a longer WLTP range of 454km and Vehicle-to-Load charging capability.

The company has also confirmed the introduction of its patented Intelli-Seats and the latest Intelli-Lux HD lighting system.

“Our new Opel Astra is sharper, more modern and more sustainable than ever,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl. He added that the new design and technology updates will “take our compact class bestseller to the next level”.

The new Astra will make its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show from January 9th to 18th, 2026.
