Homecoming Night in Ballyheigue Marks Rallylegend Return

Last Saturday night’s homecoming celebration at O’Regan’s Bar in Ballyheigue brought together the Kerry crews and supporters who travelled to San Marino for Rallylegend earlier this month.

The trip centred around Kerry Motor Club member Ray Stack, who marked his 50th birthday in the same year the Circuit of Kerry celebrated its 50th anniversary. Club members and supporters came together earlier in the year to fund his entry, allowing him to compete in a Ford Escort Mk2 with his brother Gene Stack on the pacenotes. It was Ray’s first competitive event outside Ireland.

The Stacks were joined on the Rallylegend entry list by Aghadoe driver Rob Duggan and his co-driver John McCarthy, both in an Escort Mk2. Local co-driver Ciara Griffin also took part, teaming up with Cork driver Neil Phelan.

More than 150 Kerry supporters made the journey to San Marino, creating one of the largest Irish followings ever seen at the event.

Saturday’s gathering in Ballyheigue gave crews and supporters a chance to look back on the trip. A major highlight of the night was the premiere of a full video documentary produced by young Kerry Motor Club member Tony Griffin, through his Bear Sport Media operation.

The feature video was shown at 10pm, and the full version is available here:

A huge thanks was extended to Gearoid O’Regan and all the staff at O’Regan’s Bar for their hospitality. Finger food was served, and presentations were made to mark the occasion.
