Group A machinery entry at Killarney Historic Rally as new rules come into force

The 2025 Killarney Historic Rally will see a major increase in Group A cars following changes to historic eligibility. The most notable addition is local driver Alan Ring, who unveiled his new Group A Subaru Impreza at Sunday’s launch.

Clerk of the Course Anthony O’Connor said the rule change has transformed the make-up of the entry.

“With the new regulations, the door opened for a different type of historic car. Alan’s Subaru is the perfect example. We’ve a WRC Corolla entered and two Escort Cosworths as well. It has shifted the whole dynamics of the event,” he said.Ring’s Impreza is one of only a handful of cars built to this exact specification. He will run the car under the Munster Joinery banner
