Kingdom of Kerry title to be decided at the Killarney Towers Hotel Historic Rally

The 2025 Towers Hotel Killarney Historic Rally will bring the curtain down on this year’s Moriarty’s Central Car Sales Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship, with several key positions still up for grabs.

The series took a dramatic twist after the Rally of the Lakes in May. Defending champions and early leaders Tommy Mason and Paul McGlinchey looked set for another strong result until engine trouble sidelined their Ford Escort on the second day. A class win on Saturday salvaged some valuable points, keeping them fifth overall heading into this weekend’s finale.

Rob Duggan and John McCarthy took advantage with two strong class wins in Killarney, moving them to the top of the standings. They now hold a narrow one-point lead going into the final round.

Just behind, Darren Young and Alan Ring share second place on 21 points each. Young, driving a Honda Civic, scored a class win and a second-place finish during the Lakes weekend, while Ring matched that with an identical result in the Historic category in his BMW M3.

Colin O’Donoghue sits fourth after a consistent run of podium finishes, while Fergus O’Meara and Donagh Crowley share sixth place.

In the co-driver standings, Pa Lawlor is second, one point behind McCarthy. Behind them, there’s a three-way tie for third between Kieran O’Donoghue, Ger Conway, and Noel O’Sullivan.

With the Killarney Historic Rally offering the final opportunity to score points, every position from first to fifth remains open, ensuring a tense finish to the 2025 Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship.
