Paul Nagle set for FIA World Rally Championship Safety Role
Killarney’s Paul Nagle is set to take up a senior safety position with the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) from next season.
The experienced co-driver will be appointed Deputy Safety Delegate for the 2026 WRC season, a role previously held by rally legend Michèle Mouton.

From 2026, Nagle will split the season by taking the position across eight rounds of the championship while Priit Priimägi will do the other seven or eight rounds, both working under Nicolas Klinger, who becomes the new FIA Safety Delegate.

Nagle, who brings over 20 years of top-level rallying experience with teams such as Mini, Citroën, Hyundai, Ford and Volkswagen, will assist in developing and coordinating safety operations across WRC events.
Currently, Nagle is attending the Central European Rally, the penultimate round of the 2025 season. His final assignment this year will be at the Rally Saudi Arabia, a new event on the WRC calendar, before stepping into his new role.
It’s a notable milestone as its almost 21 years to the day since he made his WRC debut alongside Donie O’Sullivan in a Ford Focus WRC at Rally Catalunya in 2004.
