An Aston Martin Formula 1 engineer with deep Kerry roots will be one of the headline guests at this Friday’s Motorsport Ireland Women in Motorsport Networking Event in Athlone.
Sosanna Ní Dhubháin, Senior Composite Designer with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, will join a distinguished panel of speakers celebrating the growing influence of women across all areas of motorsport.
Although raised in Rostrevor, County Down, Ní Dhubháin’s Kerry connections run strong — her father, Tomás Ó Dubháin, hails from Smerwick Harbour in West Kerry, and she continues to spend much of her free time in the Kingdom.
The annual event, organised by the Motorsport Ireland Women in Motorsport Commission, has quickly become a highlight on the Irish motorsport calendar. Following the success of last year’s inaugural gathering, the 2025 edition has expanded to include speakers, guests, and participants from across Ireland and abroad — including the UK, USA, and Kenya.
Also featuring this year is Kate Beavan from More Than Equal, a global initiative dedicated to developing the first female Formula 1 World Champion, and Josie Rimmer of DirtFish, who will share insights from one of the world’s leading rally media and training organisations.
The event includes an Introduction to Motorsport workshop for newcomers, alongside discussions on karting, rallying, and circuit racing. A new SIM/STEM panel will explore how simulation technology and science are shaping the future of motorsport participation — particularly for young women and girls.
Motorsport Ireland President Aiden Harper praised the Commission’s efforts, describing the event as “a fantastic opportunity to celebrate progress and inspire the next generation.”
