Doherty hints at 2026 focus on Irish Tarmac Championship
At the finish ramp of the Wexford Volkswagen Stages Rally on Sunday, newly crowned National Rally Champion Eddie Doherty gave the first indication of his plans for next season.

Doherty confirmed that the Wexford event, the was his final event of the 2025 season and his last outing in the current Skoda Fabia.
His full attention in 2026 will switch to the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, marking a change of direction after securing the National crown this year with co-driver Tom Murphy.
While Doherty did not reveal what car he will use next season, he made it clear that the Fabia he has campaigned to so much success will not return to action in 2026.
The Kilkenny-based driver wrapped up the Triton Showers National Rally Championship title in Clare and signed off his season with a second place finish in Wexford.
