Local firms back Patrick Snijers for Rally Masters Ireland
The appearance of rally legend Patrick Snijers at Rally Masters Ireland has been made possible by the support of two Irish companies – FionnSport of Cork and Ahern’s BMW of Castleisland.
FionnSport is supplying a full replica of the BMW M3 E30 Snijers drove to victory on the 1988 Manx Rally. The Cork-based BMW specialist provides motorsport-level diagnostics, engine building, ECU tuning and motorsport support services.
Ahern’s BMW, the Kerry agent for BMW located in Castleisland, is also supporting the effort. The dealership provides sales, servicing and parts for BMW models and is just minutes from Tralee, Killarney and Kerry Airport.


The car is owned by Aidan Long, whose family firm Eamon Long and Sons , a leading supplier of plant machinery spare parts in Munster, is the overall sponsor of Rally Masters.
Patrick Snijers, known is one of Europe’s most successful rally drivers. He has 148 European Rally Championship appearances and 44 wins, as well as seven Belgian rally titles, plus Dutch and European championship victories.
Snijers made his rally debut in 1977 and went on to achieve major success with Porsche, Lancia and BMW.
His 1988 Manx Rally win in a Prodrive BMW M3 remains one of the model’s most famous victories.
