Wexford Volkswagen Stages Rally set to be more than just a rally

The Wexford Volkswagen Stages Rally is shaping up to be a real motorsport party when it runs on September 13 and 14.

Wexford Motor Club, inspired by the success of the recent Fleadh Cheoil in the town, are promising that their flagship two-day event will deliver both on the stages and off them.

The rally will be based at Whites of Wexford in the heart of the town, with service taking place at Wexford Racecourse.

The celebrations begin early with an Opening Evening on Thursday, September 4th at 7pm, giving fans a first chance to soak up the atmosphere. On Friday, the ceremonial start will again bring the rally cars into Wexford town centre.

On Saturday, while drivers and co-drivers focus on the first of 18 stages, the spotlight will shift to the service crews with a special evening party in the town. On Sunday evening, when the competition ends, the celebrations continue with a free BBQ for all competitors at rally HQ, within walking distance of Parc Fermé.

Across the weekend, music and entertainment are also promised, with the organisers determined to make the rally a festival-style occasion for fans, crews, and the local community.

With 215km of competitive action over two days, the rally itself will provide a stern test, but Wexford Motor Club say the atmosphere around the event will be just as memorable.
