The 2025 Triton Showers National Rally Championship moves into its penultimate act this Sunday with the Loughrea Plant & Tool Hire Clare Stages Rally, promoted by Clare Motor Club and based once again out of Ennis.
The return of classic tests such as Ruan and Ballinruan adds extra spice to the nine-stage contest, which brings together all the leading contenders in what has been one of the most competitive championship campaigns in recent seasons.
Dublin’s Tim McNulty returns to action this weekend, resuming his partnership with Tralee’s Diarmuid Falvey in a Volkswagen Polo for their first rally together since Ravens Rock.
The rally is also a round of the locally sponsored Top Part West Coast Championship
From a Kerry perspective, the turnout is smaller than usual, with just five all-Kerry crews entered alongside a handful of others with strong Kingdom connections.
Leading the local charge is Lyrecrompane’s Mike Quinn, co-driving with Killarney’s Kieran Doherty in a Ford Escort Mk2.
They are joined by another Escort Mk2 pairing, Dave Slattery and Denis Coffey of Killarney, while Sean Enright (Lyrecrompane) and Kevin Doherty (Killarney) complete the trio of Kerry crews in Escorts.
A rare outing for the Knocknagoshel/Tralee crew of Mike Neligan and John Hurley in a Toyota Corolla Twin Cam will also be a highlight for local rally fans.
Meanwhile, Oran England from Cavan, whose grandmother hailed from Camp, competes in a Ford Fiesta.
Kerry crews also provide interest in the Ladies Class, where Michelle Quinn (Lyrecrompane) and Caz Somers (Tralee) .
In the West Coast championship, they chasing class honours and a chance to take home the Katie Quinn Perpetual Trophy at the end of the season, named in memory of Michelle’s late sister.
They face competition from Louise Bourke (Killarney) and Edwin Walsh (Athea) in a Peugeot 206 Cup Car.
