WRC star Josh McErlean to appear at Rally Masters Ireland in Ford Focus WRC

World Rally Championship driver Josh McErlean will take part in Rally Masters Ireland at Killarney Racecourse on Saturday, September 27.

The event comes between the County Derry driver’s commitments at the WRC rounds in Chile and Central Europe.
McErlean will drive a Ford Focus WRC with the registration PX08 AXB.
The car, built by M-Sport in 2008, was originally campaigned at the highest level of the World Rally Championship. It has been driven in period by Mikko Hirvonen.
Rally Masters Ireland marks the return of high-profile rally action to Killarney Racecourse for the first time in more than two decades.
Organised by Killarney and District Motor Club in conjunction with Motorsport Ireland and kingfisher Insurance, the demonstration-style event will showcase iconic rally cars from different eras, from the Group B machines of the 1980s to the Group A and early WRC cars of the 1990s and 2000s.
It has been 21 years since the racecourse last hosted a spectator stage for the Rally of the Lakes, and 20 years since the late Colin McRae appeared there as course car driver.
This year’s event will also raise funds for the Jack and Jill Foundation and Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice.
Spectators can expect to see cars such as the Audi Quattro, MG Metro 6R4, Peugeot 205 T16, and Subaru Impreza WRC in action, many driven by well-known names in the sport.
