Richard Britton to be remembered with motorcycle run
One of Ireland’s top motorcycle road racers, Richard Britton, who died at the Ballybunion Road Races in County Kerry in 2005, will be remembered with a special event on September 13, , marking the 20th anniversary of his passing.
Britton, from Enniskillen, was tragically killed during the 250cc race at Kerry’s first and only road race event.
The 34-year-old was hugely popular among fans and fellow racers. He suffered a fatal crash during the race and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to University Hospital Kerry.
To mark two decades since his death, Britton’s home club in Enniskillen has organised a commemorative motorcycle run.
The run will begin in Enniskillen and will travel through Belleek, Garrison, Belcoo, over a route of roughly 50 kilometres.

Supporters will have the chance to meet racers who competed with Britton, including Ryan Farquhar, Paul Gartland, and Barry Maguire. Members of the Britton family will also be in attendance.
Funds raised from the event will go to adult mental health and suicide awareness services, specifically supporting the Aisling Centre, which offers counselling, psychotherapy, and well-being support in the community.
